A quick google search tells me we call this breast “enhancement” or “augmentation” now . And apparently some companies will do the job (small, large, xl, xxl sizes) for as little as $2,500.

The National Library of Medicine says : Long-term breast enlargement without surgery is possible with an external tissue expander. The more it is used, the more the breasts grow. To avoid disappointments and drop-outs, women have to be well informed about the time and lifestyle commitment.

Yikes.

According to Business Insider , most women are unhappy with their breast size today– with 47% wanting larger breasts and 23% wanting them to be smaller. Many pay a hell of a lot more than 52 cents to make that happen.

I’m not the only one who believes that social pressure encouraging people to alter the healthy bodies they’re blessed with is a tragedy. THE UNIVERSITY of NORTH CAROLINA at CHAPEL HILL offers a lot of advice on self acceptance and self love, but I like this one:

Think of your body as an instrument instead of as an ornament. Be thankful every day for all of the wonderful things you can do in your body such as dance, play, run, enjoy good food, and give hugs!
